⚙ First Impressions |
❱ VISUAL: G'rhyf Kett is a masculine-presenting Seeker of the Sun Miqo'te, 5'8" tall with broad shoulders and a muscular build. They have a medium-light beige skin-tone and dark brown hair and fur. Their hair is kept relatively short, save for their bangs which are swept partially back, and the tips are dyed a bright blue. Their natural eye color is an emerald green, but the left eye has been affected by magic--it is now a faintly golden shade of white, and an odd white scar cuts down across it. They have several facial markings in addition to the typical L-shaped ones under the eyes; three sideways teardrop shapes on the outer side of their eyes and a clover-like tattoo on the bridge of their nose. Over their cheekbones are also some very faded stripes, not nearly as dark as their other markings. A diagonal scar crosses from above their left eye to under their right, as well as many other smaller nicks and cuts they have accumulated over the years. Their teeth are unusually sharp for a Seeker--more than just having fangs, all of their teeth are of a carnivorous shape, a fact that they generally try to conceal. The fur on their tail is relatively long and well-groomed, and their ears are similarly well-kept. ❱ AURAL: Their voice has a slight strain to it, as if something might have once happened to their vocal chords before healing over. They enunciate clearly but tend to speak fast, and also tend to get loud when they're excited. Their accent is an odd blend due to their travels, and they have a touch of the Miqo'te tendency to roll R's and hiss S's. ❱ OLFACTORY: Apart from the slight musk that most Miqo'te bear, G'rhyf tends to smell of leather and sweat, and if they have been out in battle often recently likely a lingering scent of blood. They tend toward floral scents for soaps, but nothing particularly overpowering considering their natural sense of smell. ❱ DEMEANOR: G'rhyf tends to come off as polite and friendly, doing their best to keep people at ease and cheer them up when they can. When meeting with important personages (or anyone that they need to have a good opinion of them), they become somewhat quiet and reserved and their body language stiff. Among friends, however, G'rhyf is quick to laugh and joke, and is very much one for casual physical affection. On the flip side, G'rhyf is extremely aware of their potential to be an intimidating presence and does their best to minimize this, even when it is perhaps really not necessary. When in a foul mood they quickly become snappish and snide, while bouts of depression usually remain hidden or muted. |

❱ PSYCHIC & PSIONIC INFORMATION: G'rhyf's mind is...a mess, both trauma-wise and metaphysically. Due to the odd way in which their Rejoining occurred, Ardbert's mind and memories are...nebulously intact within G'rhyf's subconscious, at least enough that they can allow his personality to come forward if both of them want it. There is also a section of G'rhyf's memory that has been 'blotted out', essentially irreparably damaged by a surge of magic that left a stain over those memories. ❱ MAGICAL INFORMATION: Being the Warrior of Light, they are obviously in possession of the Echo and the Blessing of Light. The Echo is an ill-defined ability to 'surpass the barriers of the soul' and manifests in many different ways. For G'rhyf, they are able to understand and be understood by anyone regardless of languages used, have uncontrolled visions of past events, and a grab-bag of small effects that they have lumped under 'knowing where they need to be' (sensing that someone needs their help, having an idea of where to search for an item, anticipating attacks in battle, ect.). The Blessing of Light is a 'divine' power which protects the bearer from corruption of their soul, as well as making them stronger and tougher than normal--even compared to other bearers of the Blessing, due to Shenanigans. Outside of the WoL starter package, G'rhyf has some minor abilities as a Speaker (able to commune with elementals and hear them if they are in a trance), and are trained in a variety of different uses of aether, both in a magical and more typically martial capacity. (Their combat jobs are BRD, WHM, DRG, MNK, WAR, RDM, and DNC.) They often combine these disciplines in battle, though using too many different styles at once can put a heavy strain on their body from the precise control and immense amount of aether required to tap into everything at the same time. ❱ MEDICAL INFORMATION: G'rhyf is pretty much covered in battle scars, most of them somewhat faint thanks to the effects of healing magic but many of them still looking pretty nasty. Several scars look particularly devastating--one diagonally across their chest from right hip to left shoulder, a burn scar across the majority of their upper right arm, and some massive claw marks across their stomach and right side. Other than these battle wounds, there's one big scar that is very noticeable: a swath of a burn mark on their back, between and slightly above their shoulder blades. The area is roughly diamond shaped, and from how the scar tissue remains discolored it almost seems like there was once some form of tattoo or similar marking imprinted there. |
⚙ History |
❱ BACKGROUND: Born in Thavnair to a branch of the Corvosi G tribe that fled when Garlemald first invaded, 'G'raehma' was a very curious child that was always somewhat stifled by the isolationist and highly practical sensibilities of their community. While their mother loved them dearly, she was emotionally distant and neither connected well with the other, leading G'rhyf to often seek company with the Arkasodara living in a small village nearby. They absorbed bits and pieces of Thavnarian culture through them, including some tenents of the Hannish faiths (and later on The Genders). G'rhyf still tried their best to fit in with the G, but while they were a competent hunter they always felt incredibly out of place. When they were 16 G'rhyf finally decided to leave home, and set out to explore the world--which as fortune would have it, began with Eorzea. ❱ 1.0: While G'rhyf was in Eorzea and operated as one of the Warriors of Light, they do not remember any of this time. The only remainders of that year are the memory of watching Dalamud break apart in the skies above them, and a burned out marking on their back between their shoulderblades. They were saved by Louisoix's spell, and reappeared in the middle of the Black Shroud five years later. ❱ ARR: Though confused and out of sorts, G'rhyf was able to find steady ground in Gridania and quickly began to make a name for themself. Evidence of their Echo caught the attention of Papalymo and Yda, who inducted them into the Scions. Minfillia remembered G'rhyf, but didn't push the issue seeing their distress over the lost memories. Dealing with Ifrit was a gigantic mess, ending with G'rhyf having to face off against the primal on their own and only barely making it out of the encounter alive. They choose to remain independent of any of the Grand Companies (they got their chocobo in 1.0, Farrok found them again during the first month or so in Gridania). Titan is far less traumatic given the time to plan and actually have a reliable team of Echo-blessed adventurers, and from there things mostly proceed without a hitch. (Haurchefaunt definitely has them confused and flustered, though.) They're not exactly sure how they wound up being the hero to save an entire realm from the looming Garlean threat, but they could hardly abandon these people now. G'rhyf has...concerns regarding the Crystal Braves, but they think Alphinaud has a better idea than them about the political side of it all and they throw their hat in with him. Alisae's request for help is one they answer with many less reservations--they very desperately want to know more about what happened in the Calamity, in the hopes that some hint of their past might be uncovered--and of course find more than they really bargained for. Soon after that first foray they join the expeditionary force looking into the Crystal Tower, and run face first into some details of their clan's past they had no clue even existed. G'raha and G'rhyf start off on rocky and somewhat awkward ground, but soon strike up a very close friendship as they exchange the details of each side of their tribe. G'rhyf bonds very fast with Moenbryda--or rather, she bullies her way into being close friends with G'rhyf, since she sees a lot of Urianger's awkward tendencies in them. As their various endeavors gain more and more speed, G'rhyf feels more and more confident in their new place in the world. Bahamut is finally truly dispelled, Xande is defeated, and the primal threat seems to be truly quelled for now. Even with the horrible news of the destruction of the Isle of Val, it's hard to really feel discouraged. But then Midgardsomr breaks the Blessing of Light, and things all fall apart. Moenbryda is lost, the Sultana is murdered, and the Scions scattered to the five winds. And G'rhyf couldn't do anything to stop it. It's their fault. ❱ HEAVENSWARD: [construction noises] -in a haze in the beginning -Haurchefant helps ground them, helping on patrols to keep busy -especially conflicted over dragon conflict thanks to Thavnair legends of guardian dragon -Vault: happens. Haurchefant: dead. G'rhyf realizes they were in love and it's too late to do anything about it -...Thordan what the fuck do you mean 'what are you' get back here what did that mean -hit hard by Minfillia's sacrifice, continues to blame themself for everything -starting to shut off from their friends, not willing to share their troubles with anyone ❱ STORMBLOOD: [construction noises] -getting more and more tired of so much war, resigned to being the weapon of choice -frustrated by Zenos, desperate to defeat him to keep their allies safe -party is scattered in Shinryu trial phase change, forced to push themself to breaking fighting Zenos alone -later overhears soldiers talking about the terrible bardsong they could hear from below that 'sounded more like a howling beast', solidifies their self-hatred and convinced they have no worth outside being the WoL -(surprise they actually just have so much depression and PTSD) -panicks hardcore as the Scions' souls are summoned away, Is Not Okay ❱ SHADOWBRINGERS: [construction noises] -calls out the Exarch as being G'raha as soon as they are alone in the Occular, Exarch is stubborn and insists 'no such man is within this Tower any longer' -takes his lack of honesty to mean he resents them for not being able to keep their promise to him and stop the Eighth Calamity, gives no further protest to his identity -starts conflicted about Minfillia, but quickly adopts the fuck out of her as her own person -realizes very quickly they are only containing the Light, resolves to figure out how to convert or purge it safely on their own -does not trust Emet-Selch for even a second, but does recognize the history he tells is the truth -becomes worried as SHIT that they're tempered by Hydaelyn, takes a while to reason that fear through -'date' with the Exarch before Mt. Gulg gets disgustingly gay, realizes he doesn't hate them and is planning to be a sacrifice in some way and begs him not to (with both of them not saying any of it directly because they're a pair of fucking sentimental and theatrical MORONS) -finally gets hit with a clue-by-four after The Lightwardening that the Scions care about them as a person and not just as the Warrior (absolute moron, idiot, they were saying it the whole time) -sees Hades in the end as someone to be mourned rather than loathed, though they can't forgive what he did to the sundered -local cats in love dodge addressing anything until nearly the last second (G'rhyf kisses G'raha's palm after he reveals making the vessels was crystalizing him further, they still don't actually say the words until G'raha is woken up in the Tower on the Source) -...the the twins are their siblings now they are writing up the adoption papers FUCK YOU FOURCHENAULT ❱ ENDWALKER: [construction noises] ends 6.0 age 27 -Sharlayan investigation starts while Thavnair group heads out with G'rhyf, they are SO FUCKING CONFLICTED ABOUT GOING HOME -Estinien for the love of the twelve warn them next time before dropping one of the first brood on their lap you ASSHOLE -get back to Sharlayan in time for Labrynthos adventure, mad sus of the Forum and suspecting them of trying to hunker down through the final days???? bro what -extra time in the talk with Vrtra after busting the Tower, reassures them they and their clan are as much his wards as any other Thavnarian -G'rhyf Had A Very Nice Supper And Definitely Did Not Go Through A Personal Nightmare That Left Them Triggered And Dysphoric As All Hell :) -takes at LEAST three days to recover enough to go back on duty, lots of long talks with Thancred and G'raha about feeling like their body is no longer their own/Zenos left something behind -absolutely knew from the word go that the lopporits were Sharlayan's collaborators, who else just throws books at a problem and assumes that's enough -also absolutely just called out the BS they were forcing Urianger into right away -stabbed right in the feels by that names speech Uri bud can u watch ur crossfire bro -started screaming internally when the Final Days started in Thavnair and basically never stops until the end of the expansion -bonds quick with Meteion, hit REALLY hard by her descent -feels bitter about Fourchenault making up with the twins, feels weird about feeling bitter, hasn't yet made the connection between his callousness and their strained parental relationships -cries at least five times during Aitiascope trek, gives Venat a hug before she dissipates -knows right after Urianger and Y'shtola sacrifice themselfes during Ultima Thule G'raha intends to be next, doesn't let go of his hand until the very end, 'You say it, I'll do it' -1000% cried when Emet tells them it's safe to summon everyone back again -sang for Meteion all through The Dead Ends and The Final Day, bardsong of hope and recovery trying to reach out to her -'That, I can't deny.' -kind of maybe actually died for a hot second out there? definitely was recovering for like a month afterward -when Scions split goes to visit their clan for the first time since leaving, invites G'raha to come with them, after that is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ plans are for losers -...why does everyone want to fuck lahabrea |

❱ PHYSICAL AFFECTION: hi yes this catte lov to hug plz do--seriously, if your character is on good terms with G'rhyf they WILL hug the fuck out of you. Or just hang all over you like an asshole, if it's funny. ❱ RELATIONSHIPS: While they do have a committed relationship in their canon (hi, Raha, wassup), they are polyamorous and I'm open to things developing if G'rhyf happens to catch feelings for someone. (Also if a G'raha player doesn't wanna do romance, I'm fine dropping that aspect!) ❱ PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: Bro, their entire job is to fight gods, they're good for it. ...like, scary good. If we don't have nerfs on you might want to call for backup, just sayin'. ❱ OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS: G'rhyf suffers from social dysphoria and is very paranoid about being perceived as a female. (Very specifically being female, not being feminine.) Given that their body plan has become very masculine, this isn't likely to come up, but it's something to keep in mind regardless. There is another trigger that is somewhat related that could come up depending on canonpoint, but it's Big Spoilers and the sort of thing that should be talked about first before being threaded anyway. |

❱ BACKTAGGING: I'm slow as all hell, so this is kind of a necessity. ❱ THREADHOPPING: Go right ahead! I don't mind at all. ❱ FOURTHWALLING: Yeah, sure, I'm here for it ❱ OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS: I have no personal triggers! ❱ ANYTHING ELSE? G'rhyf is nonbinary and uses they/them and he/him pronouns! While I'm fine with IC confusion or conflict over this fact, I would appreciate it if the correct pronouns are used OOCly. |
